With the region’s highest occupancy growth rate during October, up 10.5 per cent to 76 per cent according to STR Global figures, hotels in Abu Dhabi are gearing up for a further boost in business during the winter months on the back of a strong events calendar.
According to Amr Hamed, Hotel Manager of the Liwa Executive Suites managed by Coral Hotels & Resorts, the success of the Abu Dhabi Tourist Authority in attracting major exhibitions and conferences has impacted positively on both occupancies and revenues for all hotels in the city.
“Following the Formula 1 weekend, we are looking to both consumer festivals, such as the Volvo Ocean Race event and the HSBC Golf Championships in January, and business to business events to top up our already impressive occupancy levels,” he said.
“In the first week of December alone, we have two major international conferences taking place in Abu Dhabi, with the World Green Tourism and World Family Summit +7 events attracting visitors from around the globe, as well as regional showcases such as the International Real Estate & Investment Show.”
The Liwa Executive Suites, opened early in 2011, is promoting its central location in downtown Abu Dhabi as an attraction for visitors to the emirate who are looking for accommodation convenient for both business and leisure.
“Many event visitors wish to conduct business on the side of the shows they are attending, as well as networking after hours, and they are finding that the Liwa Executives Suites provides an excellent base for their stay in Abu Dhabi – even providing a cost-effective meeting package that includes a daily delegate rate of just AED75 per person,” added Mr Hamed. Located next to the City Terminal in downtown Abu Dhabi, the hotel features 54 suites plus on-site facilities including a 24-hour restaurant, café, business centre and meeting rooms, plus fitness centre and rooftop pool.
